Honda Shine 125cc

PROS:
The bike of choice in Kathmandu, Honda Shine is a simple bike with all features necessary for a person in real need of a motorbike for official or business purpose. It comes in low budget, has a great mileage of more than 50 km per litre (which lasts a long time),excellent pick up and power, less maintenance and a durable engine.

CONS:
Its not a bike for show off and has a very small rear Tyre in comparison to the power and pick up it carries. So, the rear Tyre slips a lot whenever the braking is hard and quick. This bike came into Ktm market at around 22 lot and the initial lots were very much better than the latter ones. The bikes till around BA 39 Pa are of best quality and after that the quality has gone down a bit. The main problem in Shine is its Chain Spoket(holds only about 10000 km at max)and the shock or fork as seen  in most bikes.

Pulsar or Dirt Bike

I don't have a clue how long that motorbike has been parked beside the muddy road of Kathmandu near Talim Kendra but I can tell it was splashed by the muddy water on the road preety well. These photos were taken at around 5 pm and the condition bike was so bad that we turned around just to take a few snaps.

The most interesting thing to me was that after seeing that condition of the pulsar who in the hell was the rider in that Dio to park it there or it happened so that every coming vehicle just targeted that pulsar only. That pool of water on the road was all emptied over the pulsar. The face of the rider must be worth seeing when he finally arrives back to ride back.

As funny and interesting this incident is, it is equally ironic that you can never expect what might happen to your vehicle once you leave it in a public place like this. The need for parking places and the culture to park in a proper place should be developed in kathmandu very seriously. It not only reduces incidents like this but also helps in the security of the bike and unnecessary traffic jam that may be caused.

Don make your bike a victim like this.

Honda Dio

The new Honda Dio 110cc has just entered the market but here I am going to talk about the older version 102cc. It has been one of the most popular scooter in Nepal since it was launched. The first lot was the 15th and it has been a choice of many since then. However, mileage is a major compromise the rider has to make in case of Dio. The fuel efficiency level does not go beyond around 30 km per liter in average. With all the traffic jam and pot hole road of Kathmandu, the situation is worse.

With honda products, of course, we dont need to compromise in quality and performance. So, Dio has a superb pick up and engine gives no problem until a long time. Dio runs nice and smooth until around 30,000 km. After that mark, however, there are chances of some problems like lesser pick up and some repair work to be done as seen in most Dios in the market. It totally depends on the rider as to how fast the problems occur. If you can ride smooth and there is no multihandling of the scooty than of course you can postpone those symptoms of ill performance to a lot later period.

Honda Dio has an excellent body work and finishing. There is not much problem on its body parts. Its design, obviously, has been the choice of many because of its unique and excellent outlook.

Information on BIkes in Kathmandu, Nepal

If you are looking forward to buy a new or a second hand bike then this might be a great news for you.

I am coming up with the latest and unbiased information on most of the bikes and scooters rolling in the roads of Kathmandu. The information is much reliable as it comes from the on road  and bike repairing experience of a person who has been running his own workshop for more than 10 years.

The person i am referring to is Mr. Khem Bhattarai and his workshop is located in Gairidhara (recently moved to about 20 meters ahead and inside from the original position from gairidhara towards Lainchour). He is well known for his good services and reliable and practical suggestions.

Due to his busy schedule, it will not be possible to post information about all bikes at the same time so I will be updating the information one by one about most of the bikes in Kathmandu.

If you are planning to buy any bike or would like to know about the real performance of any bike, please feel free to leave a comment. I will try to let you know about the good things and problems of the bike as soon as possible.

YZF-R15 version 2.0
A descendant of YZF-R1 and YZF-R6, this bike is a better form of the previous R15 and is more stylish and efficient than its former model. The YZF-R15 version 2.0 is a 150cc liquid cooled 4-stroke fuel injected bike. As compared to the YZF R-15, it has changes in the specs of the Engine Control Unit, drivetrain unit, a long aluminium swing arm, wider front and rear tires, split seat, LED taillights and new-design middle cowl & tail cowl.

It embodies the superiorities of the R series splendidly.
  1. a wide frontal space that protects the rider,
  2. an easy to ride seating area that gives riders the freedom of movement and allows them to steer effectively,
  3.  the glamorous tail treatment that takes into account the management of airflow behind the rider and
  4. a sensual racing form that brings all 3 of these elements together in a harmonious package.
